Abstract
Two rhenium(III) complexes with a single oxide bridge, [Re-2(mu-O)Cl-2 (L)(2)](2+) (L = 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) or 1,10-phenanthroline (phen)) were prepared, and the crystal structure of the phen complex was deter mined. The complexes show four reversible one-electron redox couples, [Re-2(mu-O)Cl-2(L)(2)](0/+/2+/3+/4+) in acetonitrile. Both Re-2(III,II I) and Re-2(III,IV) states of these complexes exhibit strong visible a bsorption bands.
