This paper reviews the literature dealing with Landau-Kleffner syndrom
e or <<acquired aphasia with convulsive disorder>>, an unusual aphasic
syndrome occurring in childhood usually associated with seizures and
EEG abnormalities and first described in 1957. In this review, clinica
l features (language disorders, characteristics of epileptic seazures,
associated symtomps), differential diagnosis, etiology and treatment
of this condition are outlined.
