A computer simulation program for the build-up of a dust filter cake h
as been developed. The dynamics of the compression behaviour inside th
e cake can be simulated with this program. The simulation reveals a co
rrelation between interparticulate forces and the resulting pressure d
rop in the cake. The simulation results demonstrate theoretically the
internal structure of a filter cake, and give an explanation for the l
ayered structure of the filter cake as revealed by previous experiment
al investigations.
