Aa. Donskoy et al., THERMAL-STABILITY AND FLAMMABILITY OF SULFOCHLORINATED POLYETHYLENE COMPOSITIONS, International journal of polymeric materials, 24(1-4), 1994, pp. 157-166
The effect of some metal oxides used as nonactive fillers and fire ret
ardant system components on thermal characteristics and flammability o
f sulphochlorinated polyethylene was studied. The flammability of comp
ositions was estimated by the limiting LOJ method under standard condi
tions and also in the case of flame spreading in the horizontal direct
ion and in the vertical one upwards. Temperature profiles in a burning
wave were determined with the help of a thermocouple probe for optimu
m composition. Heat flows from the flame to the polymer surface were c
alculated. A materials fire-protective properties were estimated by th
e thermal shock method with single-side heating. The mechanism of a ma
terials fire-protective effect was discussed.
