Abstract
Cyclic voltammetry was used to compare the electrochemical behaviour o f PAN-based carbon fibre electrodes in aqueous (different pH), acetoni trile and methanol solutions. The sets of fibres used were produced at three temperatures and were oxidized with conc. HNO3 or left nonmodif ied. The electrode reaction mechanisms probably occurring on the carbo n fibre surfaces were analyzed.
