Abstract
Seven febrile neutropenic adults with normal renal function were treat ed with intravenous gentamicin 4.5 mg/kg once a day in combination wit h azlocillin. Gentamicin serum concentrations 1, 2, 4, 8, and 24 h aft er a 30 min infusion were 10.9 +/- 0.6, 7.1 +/- 0.4, 4.2 +/- 0.2, 1.8 +/- 0.1 and 0.16 +/- 0.003 mg/L respectively. The pharmacokinetics wer e best described by a triphasic plot including a distribution phase (a bout 1/2 h) and two elimination phases, an early and late.
