INFORMATION ON WHICH TO BASE ASSESSMENTS OF RISK FROM ENVIRONMENTS CONTAMINATED WITH ANTHRAX SPORES

Although there has been a considerable amount of research conducted in to Bacillus anthracis, the causative agent of anthrax, the data are wi dely disseminated in the scientific literature and are therefore not a lways easy to assimilate. In view of continuing concern about potentia l anthrax contamination in environmental materials and sites, this rev iew brings together the currently available information relating to th e health hazards from B. anthracis. The relevance of the available inf ormation for risk assessment purposes is assessed.
