Abstract
A method of numerically integrating the time-dependent Schrodinger equ ation is used to study photodetachment of an electron from a short-ran ge potential in the tunneling limit. The dependences of the ionization probability on the intensity, frequency, and pulse duration of laser radiation are studied. Regions of applicability of the tunneling and m ultiquantum ionization mechanisms are determined. The data of numerica l simulations are compared with the results of analytical modeling of the phenomenon.
