Abstract
High resolution spectroscopy has been used to determine the origin of the quenching of the Nd fluorescence in an Er codoped YAlO3 crystal, i n relation with an apparent lowering of the Nd concentration following the Er codoping. The investigation has been carried out through a stu dy of the satellite structure of the Nd transition between the ground level and the lowest Stark level of the 4G5/2 multiplet.
