Two new monomers, N-allyl, N'-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl urea (mo
nomer-1) and N-m-isopropenyl-alpha,alpha'-dimethyl benzyl, N'-4-2,2,6,
5-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl urea (monomer-2), were prepared by direct ad
dition reaction of 4-amino-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl piperidine (ATMP) to al
lyl isocyanate (AI) and m-isopropenyl-alpha,alpha'-dimethyl benzyl iso
cyanate (m-TMI) at room temperature without catalyst. The structures o
f these two monomers were characterized by FT-IR, H-1-NMR, XPS, MS and
elemental analysis. The properties of these monomers are also describ
ed.
