Abstract
Recent research developments support the following views regarding ant igen recognition in autoimmune demyelinating disease: there may be no single autoimmune target protein; diverse peptide self-determinants fr om multiple myelin proteins can be recognized; target determinant epit opes may differ among individuals; and target epitope recognition can change with time during the course of disease.
