In this paper we consider an age replacement policy of a system subjec
t to shocks with number-dependent minimal repair and random lead time.
Introducing cost due to ordering, repairs, shortage and holding, we d
erive the expected cost per unit time in the long-run as a criterion o
f optimality and seek the optimum age replacement policy by minimizing
that cost. Various special cases are discussed.
