Ys. Sun et Jl. Zhou, GLOBAL APPLICABILITY OF THE SYMPLECTIC INTEGRATOR METHOD OF HAMILTONIAN-SYSTEMS, Celestial mechanics & dynamical astronomy, 64(3), 1996, pp. 185-195
The global validity of the symplectic integration method or mapping ap
proach is discussed in this paper. The results show that in the region
s of phase space where symplectic integration schemes and the Hamilton
ian system possess the same topology, they are effective; but in the r
egions where the schemes possess some other fixed points than those of
the Hamiltonian system, their topologies are different from that of t
he actual system, thus the symplectic integration method or mapping ap
proach is not effective globally.
