Abstract
This article presents changes in: the epidemiological situation of rab ies, its medical prophylaxis and its sanitary regulation. The successf ul application of the oral vaccination of foxes against rabies has alr eady greatly reduced the incidence of rabies in domestic carnivores. T his permits the hope that the disease will disappear from western Euro pe or that its reappearance will only be of a sporadic nature.
