The aim of this article is to summarise present knowledge concerning t
he infection of the cat by the acquired immunodeficiency virus or FIV.
It is notably specified that the infection is ancient and that it pla
ys a significant role in veterinary medicine. The study is conducted a
ccording to the classical plan used for infectious diseases. For each
section the similarities and the differences between the feline virus
and the human virus (HIV) and between the feline disease and human AID
S are emphasized.
