Abstract
For a symbolic sequence which represents the dynamic behaviour of a sy stem we define two measures to characterize its complexity. Under thes e measures neither simple motion nor random motion are complex. Using these measures we studied the logistic map with numerical computation. The results show what we expected. So we consider this measure may be a reasonable definition of complexity. By applying these measures to the studies of EEG information transmission some interesting results w ere obtained.
