M. Jatzkowski et K. Zimmer, LIGHT QUALITY STEM ELONGATION .2. POSSIBI LITIES OF REVERSION OF FAR-RED EFFECTS BY RED OR BLUE-LIGHT WITH ARGYRANTHEMUM-FRUTESCENS SILVER LEAF, Gartenbauwissenschaft, 59(5), 1994, pp. 207-211
It was shown that stem elongation in A. frutescens is controlled by ph
ytochrome. Both red and blue light reversed the effect of far red. Inv
estigations of the kinetics showed that plants were not able to react
on far red given in the day-time, if antistimulation appeared at the e
nd of the main light period. Even if there was a delay in stimulation
by red or blue light application stem elongation was prevented. A ligh
ting of 15 minutes was sufficient for a positive reaction.
