Abstract
The results from present investigation revealed a significant linear r elationship between root cross-sectional area and load at failure over the cross-sectional root size range studied in M.9 and MM.106 apple r ootstock. Negative relationship was observed between root cross-sectio nal area and tensile strength over the range of diameter M.9 and MM.10 6 roots studied. Maximum mean tensile strength and modulus of elastici ty was recorded in roots over-bark of MM.106 in comparison with simila r roots of M.9 rootstock.
