BACKGROUND. The Q-switched ruby laser emits energy with a 694-nm wavel
ength and has a pulse duration in the nanosecond range, which allows s
elective treatment of benign pigmented lesions. Labial and perioral pi
gmented macules associated with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome are often numer
ous and cosmetically disfiguring. RESULTS/CONCLUSION. We report succes
sful treatment of these lentigines with the Q-switched ruby laser and
consider it the treatment of choice for these lesions.
