The stability constants for the equilibrium of complexation between a
sugar alpha-amino acid and the divalent metal ions cobalt(II), nickel(
II), copper(II), zinc(II), and cadmium(II) have been determined by pot
entiometry at 298 K and ionic strength I = 0.1 M in aqueous solution.
The complexes observed as well as their stability constants are discus
sed in terms of the characteristics of the amino acid.
