Jp. Frost et Dj. Armstrong, CONCRETE AND SILAGE EFFLUENT - A CYCLICAL EXPOSURE METHOD FOR ACCELERATED CORROSION TESTING, Farm building progress, (116), 1994, pp. 27-30
An experiment was conducted to measure the corrosion of concrete test
samples resulting from cyclical immersion in silage effluent and expos
ure to air. Concrete bricks were subjected to various cycles of total
immersion in silage effluent and exposure to air over a total period o
f 48 days. A cycle of one day in effluent followed by two days in air
produced the greatest weight loss, whilst continuous immersion gave th
e least. It is concluded that for rapid corrosion of test samples, a c
ycle of one day in effluent followed by two days in air should be used
.
