Abstract
The hydroiodination of 3-substituted propynoic acids and their derivat ives with sodium iodide/trimethylsilyl chloride/water in acetonitrile at 25 degrees C gives stereoselectively (Z)-3-iodopropenoic acid deriv atives in good yields.
