The authors report the various therapeutic modalities of uropathies as
sociated with horseshoe kidneys, based on a series of 20 pathologic ho
rseshoe kidneys, associated with 12 cases of renal stones, 5 ureterope
lvic junction obstructions, 3 kidney tumors, 2 cases of pyonephrosis a
nd finally 1 traumatic horseshoe kidney. The specific anatomic and sur
gical features of this uncommon malformation are emphasized and the th
erapeutic features of each uropathy associated with horseshoe kidney a
re discussed.
