Abstract
A new method for source identification of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-di oxins (PCDD) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDF);was developed. T his method is based on the comparison of the profiles of relative conc entrations of 2,3,7,8-substituted PCDD/PCDF congeners. The new procedu re is compared with the methods for source identification applied hith erto: comparison of homologue profiles, congener profiles or isomer pa tterns. Cluster analysis of the relative concentrations of 2,3,7,8-sub stituted PCDD/PCDF congeners leads to plausible correlations between s ources and environmental samples.
