Abstract
Evidence for a decline in the fluxes of PCBs to terrestrial and aquati c ecosystems in the UK and US is reviewed. Peak inputs appear to have occurred in the 1960s. The relative merits of lake and peat cores, and the analysis of archived samples are briefly discussed.
