Ew. Rice et al., OCCURRENCE OF HIGH-LEVEL AMINOGLYCOSIDE RESISTANCE IN ENVIRONMENTAL ISOLATES OF ENTEROCOCCI, Applied and environmental microbiology, 61(1), 1995, pp. 374-376
High-level resistance to aminoglycosides was observed in environmental
isolates of enterococci. Various aquatic habitats, including agricult
ural runoff, creeks, rivers, wastewater, and wells, were analyzed. Str
ains of Enterococcus faecalis, E. faecium, E. gallinarum, and other En
terococcus spp. demonstrated multiple antibiotic resistance patterns t
o aminoglycosides.
