Abstract
The Aspergillus terreus gla1 gene, coding for a glucoamylase, has been cloned by heterologous hybridization. The gene is interrrupted by fou r introns and encodes a protein with an N-terminal catalytic domain an d a C-terminal starch-binding domain. The expression of the gene is in duced by starch and maltose and repressed by glucose.
