Dl. Medlin et Dg. Howitt, THE ANALYSIS OF CHLORINE SIGNAL DECAY IN ELECTRON-IRRADIATED SODIUM-CHLORIDE, Radiation effects and defects in solids, 128(3), 1994, pp. 221-227
We present measurements of the chemical decomposition rate of electron
irradiated NaCl as a function of incident electron energy. It is show
n that although the chlorine signal decay varies with electron energy
as expected from Bethe stopping, the absolute decay rate is an order o
f magnitude slower than anticipated from the measured G values. A simp
le model is presented which allows an estimate to be made of the jump
distance associated with the formation and recombination of F-H center
pairs, The experimental measurements suggest that in NaCl this distan
ce is 15 nm.
