In alkaline condition, 1,2-diselenacyclopentane (1) was reduced by;y s
odium borohydride into sodium propane-1,3-bisselenolate, then condense
d with diol dichloride or ditosylate, six diselenacrown ethers (2a sim
ilar to 7a) and seven tetraselenacrown ethers (2b similar to 8b) was o
btained. At the same time, the palladium complex of crown ethers 5a an
d 5b was prepared by reacting 5a and 5b with palladium dichloride. The
ir complexing characteristic was discussed.
