A. Veawab et al., STUDIES OF CORROSION AND CORROSION CONTROL IN A CO2-2-AMINO-2-METHYL-1-PROPANOL (AMP) ENVIRONMENT, Industrial & engineering chemistry research, 36(1), 1997, pp. 264-269
Corrosion and corrosion inhibition in a sterically hindered amine, 2-a
mino-2-methyl-1-propanol (AMP), were investigated by static weight los
s tests. The corrosion data were compared with those of monoethanolami
ne (MEA), a conventional alkanolamine, which was simultaneously tested
under the same conditions. The results indicated that the AMP system
was generally less corrosive to carbon steel than the MEA system, but
corrosion control is still necessary. Sodium metavanadate (NaVO3) and
sodium sulfite (Na2SO3) were proven to be effective corrosion inhibito
rs, with more than 90% protection efficiency.
