Rs. Khehra et al., COMPARATIVE-EVALUATION OF VARIOUS SEROLOGICAL TESTS FOR DETECTION OF AVIAN ADENOVIRUSES IN CHICKEN TISSUES, Indian Journal of Animal Sciences, 64(12), 1994, pp. 1305-1307
Tissue samples (75) from cases of inclusion body hepatitis (IBH) and r
espiratory infections were subjected to agar-gel precipitation test (A
GPT), counterimmunoelectrophoresis (CIE) and double antibody sandwich
ELISA for direct detection of avian adenovirus (AAV). In AGPT, CHE and
ELISA, respectively, 9, 20 and 31 samples were positive. Isolation in
chicken embryo liver (CEL) cell culture revealed 17 isolates from IBH
cases and 15 from respiratory infections. The identification of isola
tes was done on the basis of characteristic cytopathic effects (CPE),
including demonstration of basophillic intranuclear (I/N) inclusion bo
dies and serological tests, viz. AGPT, CIE and ELISA. ELISA was the mo
st sensitive test as it detected all the 32 isolates as compared to CI
E (30) and AGPT (14).
