The ductus deferens was characterized by folded mucosa lined with pseu
do stratified ciliated epithelium in scrotal, inguinal and abdominal r
egions. The propria-submucosa was thin. The tunica muscularis was made
up of 2 layers of smooth muscle fibres in all the 3 regions. A modera
te PAS activity was observed in supranuclear zone and stereocilia in s
crotal and abdominal regions which decreased slightly in inguinal regi
on. The basal cells contained large lipid globules. The supranuclear z
one of scrotal and inguinal regions showed intense alkaline phosphatas
e activity. A strong acid phosphatase activity was seen in the epithel
ium lining the duct in all the 3 regions.
