Rc. Ghosh et Hvs. Chauhan, OCCURRENCE AND PATHOLOGY OF NATURALLY-OCCURRING BILIARY AMPHISTOMIASIS IN BUFFALOS AND CATTLE, Indian Journal of Animal Sciences, 64(12), 1994, pp. 1332-1334
Studies on the occurrence and pathology of naturally occurring biliary
amphistomiasis in buffaloes and cattle were conducted. The occurrence
of Gigantocotyle explanatum was much higher in buffaloes (87.09%) tha
n in cattle (35%). Grossly, the liver was enlarged and the cut surface
of the liver revealed numerous flukes in the lumen of the bile-ducts.
Histopathologically, there was marked proliferation of bileducts form
ing irregular acinous or tubular structures, arteriolosclerosis and ly
mphocytic infiltration in the interlobular connective tissue.
