Partial results of a large survey of radioactive contamination in Poli
sh forests are presented. All measurements were performed with low-bac
kground gamma spectrometers. The measurement method is briefly describ
ed. Activities of Cs-137, Cs-134, Sb-125, Ru-106, Ce-144, Eu-154, Eu-1
55, and Co-60 in A(0) and A(1) layers of forest litter from all over P
oland are determined. The geographical distribution of contamination a
s well as its origin is discussed. Nonuniform composition of the Chern
obyl fallout over Poland is confirmed and documented.
