Ed. Lantermann et B. Schmitz, PSYCHIC RESOURCES AND STRATEGIES IN DEALI NG WITH GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL-CHANGES, Naturwissenschaften, 81(12), 1994, pp. 521-527
Changes in global environment demand a new look at the interaction bet
ween man and his environment. Global environment not only affects man,
but man simultaneously influences the global environment. Exhausting
environmental resources and emission of greenhouse gases are examples
of the dimensions of ''global change''. To ensure the coexistence of m
an and environment new strategies to cope with this new challenge must
be explored. The ability to deal with environmental problems is hinde
red by the lack of understanding - people do not see the consequences
of their actions (the gap between perpetuator and victim). Man does no
t perceive or respond emotionally to the parameters of global change.
Recently, scientific concepts of global environmental management strat
egies have been developed that require problem-oriented cooperation be
tween the natural and social sciences.
