Long established as a producer of PM high speed steel billet, Soderfor s Powder AB has recently completed a substantial investment programme in its melting, atomisation, and hipping facilities, Continuous atomis ation capability of up to 7 t has been introduced together with automa tion and full traceability, putting the company at the forefront of hi gh quality high speed steel production, The new generation of ASP 2000 high speed grades is characterised by reduced inclusion contents, and hence improved mechanical and surface properties. During 1995, a spin off company, Damasteel AB, was set up to exploit the unique patterned PM stainless steels developed by Soderfors for cutlery and other appli cations where their striking appearance is of aesthetic value.
