Am. Ignatov et Il. Dergileva, ANGULAR EFFECT IN DUAL-WINDOW AVHRR BRIGHTNESS TEMPERATURES OVER OCEANS, International journal of remote sensing, 15(18), 1994, pp. 3845-3850
The Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer AVHRR/2 on NOAA satellite
s measures brightness temperatures (BT) at different viewing angles. W
e propose a statistical method to assess the amplitude of the angular
effect in both the original BT's under cloud-free conditions and the e
stimated sea surface temperature (SST). The method is applied to the A
nalogue Picture Transmission BT's in AVHRR/2 Channels 3 (3.7 mu m) and
4 (10.8 mu m). We analyse two independent data sets collected over th
e same target in tropical Atlantic in June 1987 and December 1988 from
NOAA-10 and NOAA-11, respectively.
