Abstract
European standardization in terms of pollution abatement of motor car exhaust gases as well as the demand by manufacturers to increase the g uaranteed life of exhaust systems have led to the increased use of sta inless steels. These latter offer a diversity of grades in flat and ba r products making it possible to meet the corresponding levels of stre ss : resistance to high temperatures and corrosion resistance.
