Tw. Hennigan et Tg. Allenmersh, THE INFLUENCE OF FIBROBLASTS ON THE GROWTH OF HUMAN COLORECTAL-CARCINOMA XENOGRAFTS, Surgical oncology, 3(5), 1994, pp. 275-277
Colorectal carcinoma xenografts were grown in nude mice by inoculation
with and without fibroblasts. A significantly greater proportion of t
umours grew in mice receiving carcinoma cells with fibroblasts (83% co
mpared to 52%). Tumour weight and thymidine DNA labelling were not sig
nificantly different. Initial development but not subsequent growth of
xenografts was enhanced by fibroblasts.
