Abstract
Boc N-protected iminodiacetic acid diesters easily give dianionic spec ies in the presence of two equivalents of lithium diisopropylamide (LD A). Further addition of various electrophiles results in symmetrically disubstituted compounds with modest to good yields. This method gives a new access to nitrogen heterocycles when dielectrophiles are used.
