Abstract
The direct alkylation of unsubstituted calix[4]arene 1 with various 1- hydroxyadamantanes 2 (3-R-1-HOAd, where R = H, n-Pr, i-Pr) in trifluor oacetic acid is proposed as a convenient synthesis of upper rim adaman tyl substituted calix[4]arenes 3.
