Peltogyne chrysopis, an emergent tree of Bahian Atlantic Forest notabl
e for subsessile, globose flowers with rudimentary solid hypanthium, d
ensely white-velutinous sepals and ovary, and planocompressed, ellipti
c-suborbicular fruits narrowly winged along the short seminiferous sut
ure, is described and figured. A key to species of Peltogyne known fro
m the state of Bahia is provided.
