Ramie, pineapple, sisal, mesta and banana were found to be rich in alp
ha-cellulose and bhindi is rich in hemicellulose(pentosans). Lignin is
more in mesta, roselle, banana and bhindi fibres. The total carbohydr
ate analysis and physical studies indicate their potential as a commer
cial source for various applications such as chemicals, paper and text
iles.
