C. Flynn et al., A CATALOG OF BLUE HORIZONTAL-BRANCH STARS IN THE OUTER GALACTIC HALO, Astronomy & Astrophysics. Supplement series, 109(1), 1995, pp. 171-175
We present a sample of faint blue stars at medium to high galactic lat
itude, a classify the stars as blue horizontal branch (BHB) or probabl
e non-BHB stars on the basis of medium dispersion spectra and broadhan
d photoelectric BV photometry. The classification scheme (Flynn et al.
1993) is as accurate as Stromgren photometry. Using this method we ha
ve identified a sample of 100 BHB objects in the galactic halo to fain
t magnitudes (13.5 < V < 19.5), the selection criteria ensuring that t
he sample is the cleanest to date. We analyse the kinematics of the BH
B stars in a subsequent paper.
