Abstract
In this article, the Judeo-Christian view of sin is reviewed as well a s the psychoanalytic and humanistic views of psychopathology. All thre e perspectives converge in their assumption of a universally flawed hu man condition. Conversely, the behavioral and symptom oriented phenoty pal description of psychopathology found in the DSM diverges from the Judeo-Christian theological tradition. Inconsistencies and inherent di fficulties are noted in the list oriented phenotypal approach to psych opathology or sin.
