B. Desplanques et S. Noguera, IS THE STANDARD, PARITY-NON-CONSERVING, NUCLEON-NUCLEUS INTERACTION ASURFACE ONE, Nuclear physics. A, 581(1), 1995, pp. 1-20
Claims that the standard single-particle, parity-non-conserving, nucle
on-nucleus interaction, V(pnc) = ct . 1/2 {sigma . p, rho(r)}, is a su
rface one are considered. It is shown that examination of integrands e
ntering some quantity involving V(pnc) leads to quite puzzling results
. These are further supported by a similar examination for a term [sig
ma . p, rho(r)] which is odd under time-reversal, but has a priori a w
ell-defined surface character. Alternative approaches to determine whe
ther V(pnc) is a surface or volume interaction are developed, based on
using wave functions as test functions. From these approaches, the vo
lume character of V(pnc) is unambiguous.
