Rp. Mason et al., DETECTION OF OXYGEN-DERIVED RADICALS IN BIOLOGICAL-SYSTEMS USING ELECTRON-SPIN-RESONANCE, Environmental health perspectives, 102, 1994, pp. 33-36
Oxygen-centered radicals, particularly the hydroxyl and superoxide rad
icals, have been postulated in many biochemical reactions and have bee
n implicated in many adverse reactions in vivo. This article begins wi
th a review of spin-trapping detection of oxygen-centered radicals in
vitro and concludes with a presentation of our approach to the detecti
on of the hydroxyl radicals in models of acute iron and copper poisoni
ng.
