S. Kakuda et al., AMBIENT-TEMPERATURE, RECHARGEABLE, ALL-SOLID LITHIUM POLYPYRROLE POLYMER BATTERY, Journal of the Electrochemical Society, 142(1), 1995, pp. 1-2
An ambient-temperature, all-solid lithium battery was fabricated by co
mbining a poly(acrylonitrile), PAN-based polymer electrolyte with a li
thium metal anode and a polypyrrole, PPy, film cathode. The influence
of the morphology of the PPy film cathode on the battery performance w
as investigated. The results show that the electrode morphology does n
ot considerably influence the charge-discharge cycling response and th
at the solid-state, Li/PPy battery exhibits high coulombic efficiency,
approaching 90%. However, at the present time, the battery has a poor
shelf life, and work is in progress for overcoming this drawback.
