Abstract
If a fluid, physically or chemically interacting with a solid wall, co ntinuously hows through an open system with known residence time distr ibution (RTD), it is possible to assess the system performance, if the interactions are linear, by using Zwietering's micromixing models. Th is methodology could be used to predict the behaviour of any common op en system from the study of a model open system with its RTD close to that of the original system.
