A. Maaroufi et al., STRUCTURAL CHARACTERIZATION OF LANGMUIR-BLODGETT-FILMS OF A CELLULOSEDERIVATIVE BY X-RAY PHOTOELECTRON-SPECTROSCOPY, Macromolecular symposia, 87, 1994, pp. 25-33
The method of variable angle x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy has been
applied to transferred monolayers of a new cellulose derivative. The
results support a model for the monolayer in which the cellulose backb
one lies flat on the substrate and the sidechains extend perpendicular
to the surface. Furthermore, a significant portion of the substrate s
urface is found to be bare, indicating that the transferred monolayer
contains major defects in the form of holes.
